April’s Foodie Alert post, “The Winwood Yard” a vegan restaurant in Midtown Miami… I have clients and networking opportunities all over this city which gives me the excuse to get lost in a neighborhood or try a new restaurant. After all, some people eat to live, whereas I live to eat. While meeting up with a client/friend in Midtown Miami, I was introduced to this oasis type of outdoor eatery that has a great deal of potential. Only thing is, it’s a vegan eatery. I mean, not a piece of bacon or fat back in the kitchen to help bring the veggies to life. ( smh ) I was apprehensive at first cause not only was I extremely hungry, but there’s only so much rabbit food a brother can take. ( lol ) I’m critical when it comes to my meals, I need an assortment of color, texture, aroma and a plethora of flavors to speak of. Needless to say, I’m always looking for that kundalini awakening, toe curling, make your eyes cross type of meal. ( ummmmmm, ummm!!! )
The meal I had was a combination of sweet potato, kale, brown rice, re-fried black beans, carrots and other fresh’n crunchy veggie stuff… As you’ll see there’s outdoor seating, a court yard for live performances, a full bar, and even a complimentary self serve lemon/cucumber pitcher of water. The Winwood is a refreshing, tranquil and potentially romantic place to be. About 2-3 blocks south west from the center of Midtown and a block away from the Graffiti walk on North Miami Ave. The menu is creatively designed with signature dishes, a la carte side dish selections and freshly made smoothies. The wait staff are attentive and courteous and I will definitely go again.
